Introduction
Simonsig Wine Estate is deeply connected to South African wine industry history, the Stellenbosch wine region, and the Malan family legacy. The late Frans Malan produced South Africa’s first Méthode Cap Classique bottle-fermented wine and co-founded the Stellenbosch Wine Route. His sons Francois and Johan, along with grandchildren Francois-Jacques, Christelle, and Michael, represent the second and third generations managing the estate today.
Karen Senior, a part-time Marketing Director with The Marketing Centre, has worked with Simonsig for years as part of their strategic management team. The organization recently completed a tactical sales tool reflecting the estate’s rich history and family heritage.
Challenge
Simonsig’s sales and marketing team required a communication tool that would convey the estate’s story, location, and proximity to Cape Town—particularly for international visitors and clients whose first language isn’t English, when verbal explanations proved insufficient or unavailable.
Solution
A six-minute video presents Simonsig’s narrative with authenticity and professionalism, covering heritage, provenance, pioneering accomplishments, and environmental and social commitments. Recognizing international market needs, the video includes subtitled versions in Mandarin, Russian, and German.
